Neighborhoods across Eden Prairie will come together on Tuesday, Aug. 6, for the city’s annual “Night to Unite,” a tradition that fosters community spirit and a shared commitment to safety.
This year, attendees are encouraged to contribute to the PROP Food Shelf by bringing non-perishable food items.
Jenifer Loon, executive director of PROP, noted a particularly high demand for services this summer.
“As I surveyed our food shelves this week, our stock is empty or extremely depleted on items that families rely on as staple items in their food orders every month,” Loon said, listing essentials like toilet paper, pasta and sauce, cereal, peanut butter and jelly, hearty soups, and canned meats like chicken and tuna that are in short supply. “We are very grateful to our community for their generous donations of in-date, unopened items from their Night to Unite gatherings, and look forward to seeing our food shelves stocked once again.”
As an incentive, the city will enter parties donating more than 200 pounds of food into a drawing for an ice cream social hosted by the Eden Prairie Police and Fire departments.

PROP Food, a registered 501(c)(3), provides nourishment and comprehensive support to Eden Prairie and Chanhassen residents facing financial, housing, or employment insecurity.
