Sparklefest on July 3 at Round Lake Park emerged as the main attraction of Eden Prairie’s 4th of July Hometown Celebration. Due to storm forecasts, the city canceled the July 4 festivities but announced on social media that they are working to find a potential new date for the fireworks later this year.
The fourth annual Sparklefest featured new events, activities, and food options. The celebration included 13 food trucks, such as popular newcomers Jilly Beans Ice Cream and Game Day Grub. Families enjoyed a variety of activities, including a dance party, hands-on crafts, lawn games, face painting, and bouncy houses.
To cap off the night, the event introduced a new feature: a drone show. This made it one of the few celebrations in the state to include such a spectacle. The drone show provided a sensory-friendly display of bright colors without the loud bangs typical of fireworks.
Adding to the excitement was a kids’ foam party, offering endless fun for the youngest attendees.
Two of the three 4th of July Hometown Celebration events went on as planned. The festivities began with “Strike Up the Band: A Military Salute” on July 2 at Staring Lake Amphitheatre. Attendees enjoyed a free outdoor concert featuring classic favorites performed by the Eden Prairie Community Band and the Prairie Ramblers, with local veterans and active military as honored guests.
