Workers from Prairie Restoration, Inc. conducted a prescribed burn Tuesday in the Prairie Bluff Conservation Area in southern Eden Prairie, overlooking the Minnesota River.
Prairie burns help rejuvenate growth and ensure long-term survival of the native prairie by controlling invasive plants, according to the city, which is conducting prescribed burns in a number of areas this spring.
The ground is charred by the carefully controlled burn, but plant growth – including from new species – occurs almost immediately in these areas.
