    D. Lorraine Chalker

EPLN Staff ReportsBy EPLN Staff ReportsApril 20, 20232 Mins Read

    D. Lorraine Chalker, age 96, of Eden Prairie, passed away on Oct. 11, 2022, with family at her bedside.  Lorraine was born on Feb. 11, 1926, to Gunnar and Edith Johnson in Duluth.

After graduating from Duluth Central High School in 1943, Lorraine went on to study for two years at Gustavus College. Then she attended Duluth business school and became employed with the Minnesota Arrowhead Association in Duluth.

Lorraine and Rollin H. Bissonett met in Duluth and wed in 1947. They immediately moved to Minneapolis and went on to have three sons, James, Thomas and Bruce.

In 1950 the family moved to Richfield, and in 1960 moved to Edina. Lorraine and Rollin were divorced in 1964. Lorraine remarried to Herbert W. Chalker in 1966. They continued to live in Edina until moving to Eden Prairie in 2002.

Lorraine was predeceased by her husband Herb, her parents and her only sibling, Laverne Lofgren.  Lorraine is survived by her three sons, their spouses, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren: James and Wendy Bissonett and their daughter Kathryn Septer, Thomas and Judith Bissonett and their children Melissa Handler and Stephen Bissonett, Bruce and Melda Bissonett and their children April and Justin.

Lorraine is buried with her loving husband, Herb, at Fort Snelling Cemetery. The family will hold a private Christian memorial in June of 2023.

From her family: The love for our mother/grandmother/great-grandmother is never more than a thought away. …  For as long as there’s a memory, she lives in our hearts to stay. May God keep us comforted in our loss and grateful for the blessings of her long life!
