    John Thomas ‘Tom’ Nordeen

Staff ReportsBy Staff ReportsApril 9, 2023Updated:April 9, 20232 Mins Read

John Thomas “Tom” Nordeen, 80, of Eden Prairie, beloved husband, father, and grandfather was suddenly taken into the arms of Jesus, his Savior, on March 20.

Tom was born on April 23, 1942, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Preceded in death by parents Chester and Alcy Nordeen, in-laws Robert and Rachel Armstrong, brother-in-law Randy Armstrong of ALS, and niece Stacey Armstrong.

He is survived and will be missed by his wife of 49 years Nancy, stepson S. Sanford Hendrickson Jr. (Jill), sons Jeffrey (Kari), Matthew (Nancy), Benjamin (Kristy), sisters Ann Henry and Judy Nordeen, brother Fred (Kay), brothers-in-law Bruce Armstrong and Gary Armstrong (Ginny), sister-in-law Kathy Armstrong, 10 grandchildren, and 7 nieces and 10 nephews.

His family was the center of his life, and he did amazing things with them. He was not one to “go gentle into that good night.” On March 20 he was struck by a car. He was pronounced dead at the scene. He was on his way to an early morning AA meeting.

A Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, May 6, at 11 a.m. at Prairie Community Church, 9145 Eden Prairie Road, Eden Prairie, MN 55347. Visitation will take place one hour before the service. Lunch will be served following the service.

The service will be livestreamed via prairiecommunitychurch.net.

Memorials preferred to Prairie Community Church, The Retreat, or MN Adult & Teen Challenge. Interment at Fort Snelling later.
