    Disagrees with David Hann’s comments

By Letter to EditorJanuary 7, 2023Updated:January 7, 20232 Mins Read

Editor’s note: This letter to the editor was written in response to a Jan. 6 EPLN story in which Minnesota Republican Party Chair David Hann shared his thoughts on the 2022 election and the current political climate.

From the EPLN interview: “[David] Hann believes that the DFL won the 2022 election in Minnesota by convincing the undecided voters that Republican candidates, particularly Scott Jensen, the GOP candidate for governor, would ban abortion.”

Really? That dastardly DFL tried to “convince” voters Jensen would ban abortion? Let’s see what Scott Jensen, GOP nominee, really said: “I would try to ban abortion …There is no reason for us to be having abortions going on.” Scott Jensen, interview with Minnesota Public Radio, 18 March 2022

    Wait, there’s more:

“We’re going to ban abortions. That’s really not news.” – Scott Jensen, 24 April 2022, in a video on his campaign’s Facebook page.

So in Republican Party Chair David Hann’s world, accurately quoting his party’s candidate is misrepresenting his view? Really?

While David does have a mild demeanor, there is a reason he is known as arguably the most ethically challenged lawmaker to ever walk the halls of the Minnesota Legislature.

His comments in this interview reflect that.
