Mission: Eden Prairie Local News (EPLN), is a nonprofit, citizen-run, reader- and business-supported media organization that provides local, non-partisan, accurate, and informed news about Eden Prairie, Minnesota, including journalistic reports on our city government, schools, businesses, economic and development initiatives, arts and culture, sports, spiritual matters, diversity, civic organizations, community events, and more.
Position Summary: EPLN is currently searching for a full-time publisher/CEO with a passion for local journalism, leadership experience, a revenue generation track record, and a strong perspective on equitable organization design and leadership.
This person will report to the board of directors of EPLN’s non-profit, digital-first, hyperlocal news organization and lead the effort to expand audience, grow revenue, and continue scaling profitable operations while fulfilling EPLN’s mission to provide non-partisan local news to residents and businesses.

Eden Prairie Local News seeks new CEO/Publisher
The nonprofit, nonpartisan Eden Prairie Local News (EPLN) is seeking its first paid, full-time chief executive officer (CEO) and publisher.
The new hire will succeed Steve Schewe, who has served as CEO/publisher in a volunteer capacity since January 2022. Schewe, who has overseen the digital news organization’s steady growth and the hiring of editorial staff, plans to resign in September due to health concerns.
“While I regret with all my heart stepping away, EPLN needs to complement our growing team of professional journalists with a professional business team,” said Schewe. “Volunteer energy will always be important to keep us centered on Eden Prairie, but we’re not a start-up anymore. I’m grateful that the continued loyalty of our subscribers and donors gives us the opportunity to hire a talented new leader.”
Sought for the position: a mission-driven individual who will continue to grow the organization by supporting EPLN’s independent journalists and overseeing EPLN’s business operation by generating revenue from charitable donations, grants, advertising, and events. The CEO/publisher will report to EPLN’s volunteer board of directors.
The position has a salary range of $75,000 to $90,000 plus a stipend for benefits. Details are in the Job Description (pdf).
A transition team headed by Board Chair Nancy Tyra-Lukens and Director Anne Byrne has been formed, setting an accelerated timeline for applications and interviews so that a successor can be identified by September.
