Wings of the North Volunteer Appreciation Day

WOTN Air Museum Open Free to the Public

On Saturday, August 23, 2025, Wings of the North (WOTN) will celebrate the volunteers who worked at their recent very successful AirFair show on Flying Cloud Airport. The WOTN Air Museum will be open free from 11am to 3pm that day so the public can join the fun!

Free hot dogs and popcorn will be available while supplies last and free tours of the
museum will be available. Airplane rides may also be available (weather permitting) but
only for AirFair volunteers! If you volunteer at next year’s AirFair you might get one
of the free rides at the next volunteer appreciation day!

One of the airplanes will be the 1950 Aeronca that will be given away later this year in
the annual WOTN Airplane Sweepstakes! Entries into the sweepstakes are available
on the WOTN website. The Grand Prize drawing will be held at the group’s fall pancake
breakfast to be held on September 27. The winner will have their choice of the aircraft
or $30,000! Details are available at www.wotn.org/sweepstakes .

Other aircraft on display will include a World War II BT-15 trainer which has been
undergoing a complete restoration by WOTN volunteers and is expected to make its
first flight in over 70 years this fall! The WOTN Air Museum emphasizes Minnesota’s
aviation history and proudly displays the replica of the Spirit of St. Louis which was
flown across the Atlantic Ocean by Minnesotan Charles Lindbergh in May of 1927. This
replica was displayed for many years in the main passenger terminal at MSP!

Access to the WOTN Air Museum is through Gate H of Flying Cloud Airport, a mile west
of Flying Cloud Drive on the south side of Pioneer Trail.
