Miller Park Shoreline Planting
Last fall, a dedicated group of volunteers cleared heavily infested buckthorn from the Miller Park shoreline. To prevent buckthorn from taking over again, the City has purchased several hundred native plants to be planted in that area.
This is a great chance to help complete the project and improve our local environment. The City has already purchased all the native plants and will provide the necessary tools—all we need is your help!
Event Details
- What: Plant hundreds of native plants.
- When: Monday, September 22, from 1-3 p.m.
- Where: Miller Park, next to the boat landing
- Why: These plants are a crucial part of the restoration design, capturing rainwater and preventing excess runoff from entering Mitchell Lake. Your work will directly help protect the lake’s health. In addition, these plants will also increase needed biodiversity.
