Happy Hour at the Art Center

Space is limited so register early.

Try something new while relaxing after a long day. Bring your favorite work crew, schedule a friend outing, have a special date night, or come to meet and mingle with new people. Each week offers a different project that can be completed by any participant with no previous experience. This is a great opportunity to meet Art Center instructors, and discover and explore the beautiful facility. Please feel free to bring your favorite beverage (adult or other) to enjoy. Sept. 16, Tote Bag Printing
Learn how to carve a foam or EZ Carve block paired with fabric ink to create patterns or customized designs to decorate a reusable tote bag. Use the new unique bag instead of plastic for groceries, carrying books and more.

Sept. 30, Clay for Cuisine
Ceramics has a long history of connecting people through food- from Jomon pots to Daxi drinking cups to Hassuna jars and so much more. Using the book, Clay and Cuisine: Techniques for the Studio, Recipes for the Kitchen, by the American Ceramic Society as inspiration, participants create their own small vessel using hand building techniques. Completed projects available 2 weeks after class.

Oct. 7, Handmade Table Runner
Using water soluble stabilizer to bind small scraps of fabric together, participants create a beautiful table runner or wall hanging. Basic sewing machine use is also covered in this workshop for finishing touches.

Oct. 14, Fabric Coil Bowl
Using a version of the simple blanket stitch, participants build a small container out of fabric strips and cording that can be used as a plant hanger, desk decor and more.

Oct. 21, Autumn Landscape- Painting on Canvas
Learn the basics of acrylic painting, color theory and composition by creating a beautiful autumn landscape on canvas board.

Nov. 4, Glass Coasters
Jump into the colorful world of fused glass by learning to cut, compose and paint flat sheets of glass and produce two vibrant landscape-inspired coasters. Instructor-led demonstrations guide participants through this fun and rewarding process step-by-step. Must wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Completed projects available 2 weeks after class.

Nov. 11, A New Canvas- Silk Scarf Painting
Discover a new way to experiment with painting by creating a unique scarf using silk painting techniques. Each participant is provided with an 8”x 54” Habotai scarf to use as their “canvas” as well as care instructions.

Nov. 18, Pastel Botanicals
Delve into the fun and accessible world of pastels and develop drawing skills with step-by-step guidance. Participants learn how to use pencil, charcoal, and chalk pastel to create a colorful image of a flower still life.

Dec. 2, Glass Snowflakes
What better way to celebrate the holiday season than with a unique ornament, window hanging or gift made of beautiful glass? The theme is all things snowflake, so get ready for a one-of-a-kind experience learning fused-glass techniques. Must wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Completed projects available 2 weeks after class.

Dec. 9, Hand-Sewn Jewelry
Decorative embroidery stitching combined with cut and layered felt produce dynamic shapes for wearable jewelry. With instructor guidance, participants add embellishments to their felt creations to make a pair of earrings or necklace. Basic hardware included to finish pieces.

Dec 16, Eco-Friendly Vase
Discover a fun and functional way to recycle paper, cardboard and other found objects. Participants sculpt their own one-of-a-kind vase from paper mache and recycled materials.
