Happy Hour at the Art Center
Try something new while relaxing after a long day. Bring your favorite work crew, schedule a friend outing, have a special date night, or come to meet and mingle with new people. Each week offers a different project that can be completed by any participant with no previous experience. This is a great opportunity to meet Art Center instructors, and discover and explore the beautiful facility. Please feel free to bring your favorite beverage (adult or other) to enjoy. Feb. 18, Paint Your Pet
Learn the basics of acrylic painting using a photo of your beloved pet as inspiration. Each participant leaves with a painting on a canvas board and the confidence to continue exploring.
Feb. 25, Macrame Wall Hanging
Learn the basics of macramé by making a chic and eco-friendly wall hanging. Instructor-led demonstrations guide participants through the process of knotting cotton cording and/or yarn to a wooden dowel.
March 4, Pleats and Binds- Fabric Dyeing
Explore the Japanese shibori method by hand-dyeing a silk scarf. Each participant leaves with one shibori scarf and care instructions.
March 11, Fire and Glaze- Wheel Thrown Pottery
Get your hands dirty and try out the potter’s wheel in a relaxed and supportive environment. With instructor-led demonstrations and step-by-step guidance, participants explore wheel thrown pottery and discover their inner artist. At the end of the evening, participants may choose to keep or recycle their creation; the Art Center staff will finish and fire one piece per person in the glaze of choice. Completed projects may be picked up at the Art Center two weeks after the class.
March 18, Cloth Doll Making
Learn the basics of doll making using recycled fabric, thread, needles and stuffing. Instructor-led demonstrations cover hand sewing techniques to produce a one-of-a-kind doll to give as a gift, to use as a home decoration or even for a beloved pet.
