Pre-K Creative Play by the Art Center – Saturdays
PRE-K CREATIVE PLAY- SATURDAYS
Socialize and learn new skills with fun art projects exploring different ways to be creative together. Classes explore outdoors as weather permits, so dress for a mess and the weather. If weather prevents us from being outside, we play in the spacious Senior Center Community Room. Register child(ren) only. Adults must be present and active with their child(ren) during the entire session. Glass classes must have one adult per one child due to properties of the medium. Sign up for all 6 sessions and save $15 using code #126238.
Jan. 7, Super Senses!
Explore all five of the senses with projects like cutting slime, erupting lemon volcanoes and shaving cream marbled art. Participants make a sensory bottle to take home but leave the mess with us!
Jan. 28, Body Mapping
Learn through your body to create art and practice mindfulness. Participants outline their entire body on paper, then use a variety of materials to build up a layered artwork while thinking about their world, feelings and physical presence.
Feb. 4, Celebrate Love
Celebrate love through art! Participants explore a variety of art materials to create home decorations or gifts for friends and family. Projects may include clay hearts, heart mobile, cards and more.
Feb. 18, Clay and Coils
Jump into the world of clay by making simple coil pots, hearts and more. Participants learn the basics of clay hand-building and underglaze painting to create one-of-a-kind pieces to be fired in our kiln. Completed projects available for pick-up at the Art Center 2 – 3 weeks after class.
March 4, Collage-O-Rama
Get your glue on in this super fun collage adventure! Participants learn about different styles of layering and collage materials such as paper, paint, stickers, wallpaper and markers. Possible projects include sticker patterns, circle and dot collage, silly self-portraits and cut-paper collage.
March 18, Over the Rainbow
Embrace the rainbow and explore all it has to offer with projects like foam color mixing and fizzy pendulum painting. Participants also make a colorful puffy cloud to keep the rainbow fun going at home.
If the cost of the program is prohibiting you from registering, please contact the Art Center supervisor, Jes Schrom, at jschrom@edenprairie.org to discuss fee options.
