Family Fun at the Art Center
Spend some quality family time together while learning new skills in a fun environment. No experience necessary. All supplies provided. Any registered youth ages 7 – 14 must have an enrolled adult with them. Both youth and accompanying adults must register and will create/take home projects. April 15, Fused Glass- Butterflies, Dragonflies and More
Participants use colored glass combined with metal wire to build their own butterfly, dragonfly or insect that can hang or stand on its own. Basic glass cutting and assemblage covered through instructor-led demonstrations. Must wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Completed projects available 2 – 3 weeks after class. Ages 9+ with adult only.
April 29, Painting with Alcohol Inks
Discover the intriguing process of using brightly colored dye-based alcohol ink to produce stunning abstract paintings on Yupo paper. Participants leave with several small works on paper along with instructions on how to seal the pieces at home.
May 13, Mosaic Magic
Learn how to design and build a colorful mosaic in this fun family workshop. Participants explore color relationships, shapes and the basics of mosaic construction by experimenting with recycled objects such as scrap glass, broken plates, beads and more. Participants are welcome to bring in recycled items that they think might be suitable for the workshop such as a plate that is broken but still has significance that you’d like to utilize.
May 27, Pop-up Cards
Learning the simple yet dynamic art of folding and cutting paper to create a fun pop-up card. Techniques such as curling and creasing help make cool cards with features like a tulip flower garden, Pokemon ®, birthday cake and more.
