Pre-K Creative Play at the Art Center
PRE-K CREATIVE PLAY- TUESDAYS
Socialize and learn new skills with fun art projects exploring different ways to be creative together. Classes explore outdoors when weather permits, so dress for a mess and the weather. If weather prevents us from being outside, we play in our beautiful Staring Lake Park Lakeview Room. Register child(ren) only. Adults must be present and active with their child(ren) during the entire session. Glass classes must have one adult per one child due to properties of the medium. Register here.
Feb. 15, Clay Picture Frame
Explore clay hand-building techniques such as slab and coil rolling to create a one-of-a-kind picture frame. Participants also add texture and colorful underglazes to their unique pieces. Completed projects available for pick-up at the Art Center two weeks after class.
March 1, Monster Madness
Based on the book, “The Color Monster” by Anna Llenas, participants make their own unique monsters and name them for different emotions. This is a great activity to connect children to their big feelings while learning colors and experiencing social-emotional growth.
March 15, Make a Kite
Add some fun to your days outside this summer with your very own kite made from simple materials. Participants learn how to construct a basic kite and how the wind can send it soaring through the air.
March 29, Let’s Go Marbles!
Discover different fun ways to do the marbling technique, which is the art of creating multi-colored swirled or stone-like patterns. Participants may experiment with shaving cream paper marbling, marble rolling painting, marbled salt dough and more.
The Art Center continues to follow state and MDH guidelines for Covid-19 with some adjustments to keep our community thriving. Currently, we ask that all unvaccinated individuals wear a face mask at all times indoors and if within 6 feet of others outdoors. Please bring your own mask or one will be provided.
If the cost of the program is prohibiting you from registering, please contact the Art Center supervisor, Jes Schrom, at firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss fee options.
