Pre-K Creative Play by the Art Center – Tuesdays
Socialize and learn new skills with fun art projects exploring different ways to be creative together. Classes explore outdoors when weather permits, so dress for a mess and the weather. If weather prevents us from being outside, we play in our beautiful Staring Lake Park Lakeview Room. Register child(ren) only. Adults must be present and active with their child(ren) during the entire session. Glass classes must have one adult per one child due to properties of the medium.
April 12, Partner Painting
Explore creativity large and small in this truly collaborative experience. Participants start by making marks with Cray Pas then switch with their family member, who adds watercolor to produce a lovely abstract piece of art. The fun continues with more switcheroo projects and material experimentation.
April 26, Mom’s Day Self-Care Gifts
Celebrate mom by creating handmade items that give her the gift of self-care and relaxation. Kids and their adults use a variety of materials and cool processes to make something special. This is a great class to make surprise gifts for Mother’s Day, attend with mom for a fun experience together or to spend time with a special person. Possible projects include fizzy bath bombs, candle holders, chore coupons, lavender scented eye pillow, decorated candles, tic-tac-toe game and more.
May 10, Spring Surprises
Welcome the arrival of spring in all its color and beauty. Projects promise to be full of color and fun, but participants have to wait to attend to find out what they are making! Plus, each young artist decides the direction of their artwork for the day. Think tie dye, watch it grow, hidden drawings and more.
May 24, Fake Food Fun
Step into the exciting world of cooking and baking through art. Participants explore all things yum with possible projects such as fantastical sweets sculptures, mixed media main courses and more.
June 7, Celebrate Dad, Make a Gift
Celebrate Father’s Day with a unique gift! Participants work with their adult to paint underglaze in lots of fun colors on a pre-made tile and small dish. Make it a surprise or attend with dad to have a special experience together. Each participant is provided with one flat tile and shallow dish which will be fired with a clear, food-safe glaze on top of their underglaze color masterpiece. Completed projects may be picked up during open studio hours on Saturday, June 18 just in time to be wrapped for dad’s special day.
