Family Fun at the Art Center
Spend some quality family time together while learning new skills in a fun environment. No experience necessary. All supplies provided. Any registered youth ages 7 – 14 must have an enrolled adult with them. Both youth and accompanying adults must register and will create/take home projects. Family Fun glass offerings for ages 9+ with adult only.
April 16, Celebrate Mom, Make a Gift
Celebrate Mother’s Day with a unique gift! Participants learn how to make their own clay creations using hand-building techniques and colorful underglazes. Make it a surprise or attend with mom to have a special experience together. Completed projects may be picked up during open studio hours on or after Wednesday, May 4, just in time to be wrapped for mom’s special day.
April 30, Papermaking
Give unwanted paper a second life! Participants learn the process of papermaking with recycled materials to produce small handmade sheets. Any wet paper is available for pick up the next business day.
May 14, Wheel Throwing
Get your hands dirty, try out the potter’s wheel and have a fun family time in a relaxed and supportive environment. With instructor-led demonstrations, participants explore wheel-thrown pottery and discover their inner artist. At the end of the workshop, participants may choose to keep or recycle their creation. Art Center staff will fire one piece per person in the glaze of choice. Completed projects available two weeks after the workshop.

June 4, Tote Bag Printing
Learn how to use an EZ Carve or foam block along with fabric ink to create cool designs or stamps to decorate a reusable tote bag. Use the new unique bag instead of plastic for groceries, carrying books and more.
June 18, Get Drawing!
The basic fundamental of drawing is simply making marks on paper, and drawing realistically is not always the end goal. Participants get drawing while having fun with a variety of loose and lively games. Everyone leaves with several drawings and increased creativity and confidence.
July 9, Block Printing
Block printing is a versatile way to create beautiful custom designs or patterns on almost any surface. Participants learn how to use block carving tools on a relief block, then how to ink their carved block and transfer the design to paper, fabric or other substrates to create a unique piece of art.
Aug. 13, Fused Glass- Butterflies, Dragonflies and More
Participants use colored glass combined with metal wire to build their own butterfly, dragonfly or insect that can hang or stand on its own. Basic glass cutting and assemblage covered through instructor-led demonstrations. Must wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Completed projects available 2 weeks after the workshop. Ages 9+ with adult only.

The Art Center continues to follow state and MDH guidelines for Covid-19 with some adjustments to keep our community thriving. Currently, we highly recommend that all individuals wear a face mask at all times indoors and if within 6 feet of others outdoors, even if vaccinated. If unvaccinated, please plan to wear a mask for the entirety of the program. Please bring your own mask or one will be provided.
