Art at the Senior Center

Ages 18+

All are welcome to attend these one-session classes designed for all skill levels. No experience necessary and all supplies provided.

Pastel Drawing Birds: Oct. 12
Learn basic composition, value, color and texture using pastels to draw a gorgeous bird from a photograph. Instructor provides step-by-step guidance in a welcoming and supportive environment. Each participant leaves with a completed pastel drawing and new skills to continue exploring.


Basic Clay Hand-building Mug: Oct. 26
Discover the joy of working with clay by building a unique mug for your favorite drink. Participants learn about coil, pinch and slab techniques along with scratch and attach. Beautiful glaze options are applied by one of our studio techs prior to firing. Completed projects available for pick-up at the Senior Center 2 – 3 weeks after class.

Gratitude Wreath: Nov. 9
Use various mixed media elements to create a fall inspired gratitude wreath. Artists will be shown how to cut, texture and paint watercolor paper to shape it into fall inspired items such as leaves, or animals, mixed with items/activities you are grateful for. And then add those items onto a base which can be hung like a wreath. *Please come to class with a list of ideas for what you are grateful for.


Glass Snowflakes: Nov. 30
What better way to celebrate the holiday season than with a unique ornament, window hanging or gift made of beautiful glass? The theme is all things snowflake, so get ready for a one-of-a-kind experience learning fused-glass techniques. Must wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Completed projects available 2 weeks after class.


Mosaic Wall Hanging: Dec. 7
Discover how putting small parts together can make a big impression. Students learn how to use small pieces of colorful glass to create their own patterns and designs to produce a fun mosaic wall hanging.


Weaving on a Frame – Loom Beverage Cup Cozy: Dec. 14
Learn about the frame loom by making a woven hot beverage cup cozy. Instructor-led demonstrations cover the basics of weaving creatively and how to add textured details for a unique gift or to take home.
