A public memorial service to honor three first responders who were killed in the line of duty in Burnsville will take place next week at Grace Church in Eden Prairie. Scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 11 a.m., the service will remember Burnsville police officers Paul Elmstrand and Matthew Ruge, and firefighter/paramedic Adam Finseth, who died on Sunday, Feb. 18. Eden Prairie resident Alex Falconer, a longtime organizer and former DFL employee, officially declared his candidacy for Minnesota State House seat 49A on Sunday. He is running as a Democrat. Falconer’s entry into the race follows the retirement announcement of Rep. Laurie Pryor, making him the first contender to enter the field. Pryor, a Democrat who has represented the district encompassing northern Eden Prairie and southern Minnetonka since 2017, will retire at the end of her current term.
