Since 1988, Rose Hilk and her husband Ron have made their home on Duck Lake in Eden Prairie, witnessing both the joys and challenges that the lake has faced over the years. Serena Haglin, a community service officer for the Eden Prairie Police Department, found herself in a heartwarming rescue mission on Sunday afternoon when a call came in regarding a group of ducklings that fell into a storm sewer drain on Indigo Drive. Southwest Christian High School (SWCHS) in Chaska has hired David Flom as the new head coach for its varsity boys basketball team. Flom, who previously coached at Eden Prairie High School (EPHS) for 17 years, stepped down on March 31 following a challenging season that involved his suspension for reading a racial slur to players. Gov. Tim Walz signed into law Tuesday a bill that renames part of a state highway after Prince, citing his transformational impact on the music scene both in Minnesota and around the globe. Outside of Paisley Park in Chanhassen, Walz made the bill official using purple ink in honor of Prince’s trademark color. The seven-mile stretch of Highway 5 from Highway 41 in Chanhassen to Mitchell Road in Eden Prairie is now the Prince Rogers Nelson Memorial Highway. According to a media release from the school’s athletic department, Alexander “Zander” Culver has been named the new head boys basketball coach at Eden Prairie High School (EPHS), replacing David Flom, who resigned after 17 years in the role. Culver comes from Roseville High School, where he has been a teacher and the head boys basketball coach for four years.
