On a beautiful fall day, an estimated 2,000 people gathered at Eden Prairie City Center, 8080 Mitchell Road, for the annual Citywide Open House on Saturday, Oct. 5.

Attendees got an up-close look at the work required to operate a city of nearly 65,000 residents and 3,000 businesses.

The event featured hands-on experiences with public safety and maintenance equipment, live demonstrations, and refreshments. Visitors could dust for fingerprints with crime techs, watch the SWAT team’s remote-controlled robot in action, meet K9 officers, and try out the police department’s pedal kart.

Eden Prairie resident Harry Prawdzik, left, with Eden Prairie Police Officer Tino Starke, a UAS (drone) pilot, during Saturday’s Citywide Open House.
