Community Drop-Off Day for trash, recycling scheduled for June 22

EPLN Staff ReportsBy EPLN Staff ReportsJune 14, 20242 Mins Read

The City of Eden Prairie will host a free Community Drop-Off Day for items that cannot be disposed of in regular trash or recycling on Saturday, June 22.

The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hennepin Technical College, 13100 College View Drive. Participants should enter the event site by turning south on Columbine Road from the eastbound lanes of Anderson Lakes Parkway, approximately half a block south of the Eden Prairie Post Office. Exit from the event will occur on College View Drive to Flying Cloud Drive.

General trash accepted at the event includes furniture, toys, artificial Christmas trees, mattresses, pressure washers, lawn mowers/equipment, and snow blowers. Gas-powered equipment will only be accepted if it is drained of all fluids. The event will also accept all non-hazardous construction/demolition waste, including gypsum board, bricks, studs, shingles, and more. Bicycles in any condition may be donated to Re-Cycle, where they will be fixed, stripped, scrapped, or redirected to other programs.

Items not accepted at the event include appliances, batteries, electronics, fluorescent light bulbs, hazardous waste, tires, and yard waste. A city recycling event for several of these items is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 14. Eden Prairie residents can drop off yard waste at the Eden Prairie Yard Waste Site, 9811 Flying Cloud Drive, which is currently open from 2 to 7 p.m. on Fridays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

At the June 22 Community Drop-Off Day event, waste must be located in a trunk, back hatch, pickup bed, cargo area, or trailer. Waste located in vehicle passenger areas will not be unloaded or accepted. No commercial vehicles or moving trucks may participate, and there is a maximum of two people per vehicle.

To reduce wait time, participants should load their vehicles in the following order, bottom to top, or have items easily accessible: construction/demolition material and steel, general trash, and bike donations.
