    EPHS Chess Team ends season with tie-breaker at state championship

    The Eden Prairie High School (EPHS) Chess Team wrapped up a successful season with a dazzling performance at the State Scholastic Championship, March 9-10. The Eagles finished fourth overall after a tie-break procedure when they tied for third on points with Wayzata.

    Scoring for the team were Frederic Abrahams, Bami Olofinboba, Surya Chennakesavula, Banji Olofinboba, Ryan Hansen, and Atharva Nandan. Individual class awards were received by Abrahams (Unrated – first place), Chennakesavula (U1000 – fifth place), and Hansen (U700 – second place).

    In addition, the following students won awards for their cumulative performance over the Chess League season: Yusuf Khan (Board 1 – first place), Bami Olofinboba (Board 2 – second place), Tsering Dhundup (Alternate – second place), and Abrahams (Alternate – third place).
