Matthew Imanuel Muniz, 25, of Eden Prairie, was arrested following a high-speed pursuit earlier this month.

According to a Hennepin County District Court criminal complaint, Muniz faces charges, including stalking and assaulting a peace officer.

Officers responded to a distress call from a woman in the early morning of March 3, reporting Muniz outside her Eden Prairie residence.

Muniz led police on a high-speed chase from eastbound Highway 212 in Eden Prairie to Burnsville. His vehicle reached speeds exceeding 110 mph, weaving through traffic and narrowly avoiding collisions. At one point, he drove on the wrong side of the road, heading directly toward an oncoming squad car.

The chase concluded in a Burnsville parking lot where Muniz, after colliding with a parked car, reportedly resisted arrest by attempting to kick and bite the officers.

The criminal complaint states Muniz began harassing the victim in 2022, with actions including physical assault, choking, and threats, leading to a harassment restraining order issued against him in September 2022, valid for two years.

Muniz is charged with stalking, fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, and two counts of fourth-degree assault on a peace officer from the March 3 incident – all felonies.

The stalking charge carries a potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison and/or a $20,000 fine, fleeing a peace officer could lead to up to three years and one day in prison and/or a $5,000 fine, and each count of fourth-degree assault on a peace officer could result in up to three years in prison and/or a $6,000 fine.

Muniz remains in custody. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 2.
