U.S. Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith, both Democrats from Minnesota, announced last week that the House passed legislation including $963,000 for replacing the Eden Prairie Police Department’s Mobile Command Center.
The funding, supported by U.S. Rep. Dean Phillips, D-Minn., who represents the Third District, now moves to the Senate for final approval.
“This project will upgrade the Eden Prairie’s Police Department Public Safety Mobile Command Center, ensuring our law enforcement officers have the tools they need to keep our communities safe,” said Klobuchar.
“First responders work around the clock to help Minnesotans in times of crisis, and they should have the right equipment to support their work. Thanks to this federal funding, Eden Prairie’s Police Department will be able to get a new, state-of-the-art Mobile Command Center,” said Smith. “Upgrading technology will help make sure Minnesotans are cared for safely and efficiently.”
According to a press release, Klobuchar and Smith have played key roles in securing federal funds for projects benefiting communities across Minnesota through Congressionally Directed Spending. Throughout this process, the senators have reviewed proposals and worked with state leaders to advocate for funding.
