Writer: Join the DFL SD49 Precinct Caucus on Feb. 27 at EPHS

Letter to EditorBy Letter to EditorFebruary 18, 20242 Mins Read

    You’re invited!

You’ve probably heard of town hall meetings, where people discuss their concerns with neighbors and elected representatives.

You may have voted in a primary election, to pick a party candidate for a general election.

A precinct caucus gives you the best of both of these ideas. It’s a one-night meeting of neighbors who have busy, full lives.

At a caucus, you get to talk about ideas and concerns, then vote with neighbors to have the concerns put into action as a resolution, and possibly have it become a law or regulation.

Kathryn Johnson submitted a drawing by her grandniece with her letter, depicting children and adults in a sunny flower field. Johnson described it as symbolizing unity for the welfare of future generations.

You’ll meet candidates, and can share your concerns and ideas with them.

You can offer help to candidates you support.

You can be a delegate, alternate, or convention volunteer to get your ideas and goals into action at conventions.

The DFL (Democratic-Farmer-Labor) Party stands for responsible governance, fair taxes, school success, support for seniors, and rural and urban infrastructure for families, workers, local governments, and businesses. We respect and uphold the Constitutions of our state and nation. The DFL honors veterans and their families with support programs, and is building a more stable, safe, and healthy home for ourselves, our children, and their children.

Join us. We’re Senate District 49. We’re neighbors, working together for the good of all.

    When: Tuesday, Feb. 27. Registration: 6:30 p.m.; caucus begins at 7 p.m.

Where: Eden Prairie High School, 17185 Valley View Road, East Commons. Park in the north or east lots.

Who: Eden Prairie and Minnetonka (south of Highway 7) residents who share the DFL Party principles: to “sustain and advance the principles of liberal democracy, and uphold human rights, and constitutional government.”

Kathryn Johnson, SD49 volunteer and resident, Minnetonka
