Eden Prairie Schools orchestra students brought holiday spirit to local mall-goers with their recent upbeat musical performance at Eden Prairie Center.
As part of Eden Prairie Center’s “Delightfully in Tunes” series of free community performances, nearly 70 students from Eden Prairie Schools, spanning grades 3 to 12, played in the mall’s Center Court on Dec. 10.
Conducted by Eden Prairie High School (EPHS) teacher Angelique Rowell, the group performed holiday favorites, including “Skater’s Waltz,” “Frosty the Snowman,” “Let it Snow,” “Sleigh Ride,” and “Jingle Bell Rock.” View a medley of short clips from their performance here.
The students are part of a special orchestra workshop led by Rowell, where middle school and advanced elementary students are mentored by volunteer EPHS orchestra students. The workshop group meets on Sunday evenings to give students extra practice, foster community, and provide help for music and assignments they are working on.
Rowell said, “It’s incredible to watch the older students mentor the younger players and watch them all come together as a group to not only make music but also build a community.”

EP Schools orchestras have several events ahead on the calendar for this school year, including:
- District Orchestra Festival, Jan. 29, two performances at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., EPHS Main Gym (every level orchestra).
- Minnesota State High School League Festival, March 6-7, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Hopkins Performing Arts Center, (EPHS Concert Orchestra).
- EPHS Plugged-In, April 12, EPHS South/Old Commons, 5 p.m. (EPHS Symphonic, Concertino, and Concert Orchestras).
- Spring Orchestra Concert, May 21, EPHS PAC, 7 p.m. (all high school orchestras).
