Prairie View Elementary School’s associate principal Brett Lobben has been honored nationally for his work, leadership, and contributions to the district’s students.
On Dec. 14, Lobben was recognized as Minnesota’s 2024 National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) National Outstanding Assistant Principal (AP). Lobben’s honor was presented jointly by the Minnesota Elementary School Principals’ Association (MESPA) and NAESP.
Michelle Krell, MESPA’s executive director, said in a press release, “Brett Lobben embodies the essence of exemplary leadership. His vision of a Professional Learning Community for APs across our state has not only elevated the standard of APs but has also served as a space where APs can connect and build community.
“Brett’s commitment to fostering collaborative environments and driving meaningful change resonates profoundly within our educational community,” she said.
In response, Lobben said he was “truly honored.” He added, “While I thank MESPA and NAESP for the wonderful acknowledgment, this award is really a testament to the inspiring people I work with each and every day and our collective commitments to risk-taking, continuous learning, and always doing what’s best for kids.”
A member of EP Schools since 1997, Lobben has served students in multiple roles, including as a music teacher, before becoming an associate principal.
Robb Virgin, executive director of learning and innovation at EP Schools, praised Lobben’s “pedagogical knowledge, empathy, careful listening, drive and strategic approach.”
Virgin added, “He has the rare combination of skills needed to build leadership in others, create a data-driven culture, be a champion for students and promote innovation across the school and system.”
Quennel Cooper, principal at Prairie View, said of Lobben, “He learns about each student — beyond just what test scores might show — to develop a more complete picture of the whole child and what they’re ready to learn. He is an amazing partner in the work we do every day to serve all of your Eagles.”
Cooper added, “Mr. Lobben is a shining example of our district values of collaboration and continuous learning, and I am so grateful he is a part of our Prairie View team. Please join me in congratulating him on this well-deserved recognition.”
