Central Middle School principal Felicia Thames assured families Wednesday morning that an alleged threat a student had made the previous afternoon to bring a gun on a school bus was not a cause for concern.

Thames sent an email to families Wednesday, May 17, before school to address the situation, which was being discussed heavily on social media by concerned parents.

“Last night, we were made aware of a concerning statement allegedly made on a bus — which you may have heard about through social media,” she wrote in the email.

“As soon as we were informed, we partnered with the Eden Prairie Police Department to ensure there was no threat. EPPD has given the all clear and said school is safe to continue as normal,” she continued.

“Please know we take all threats seriously, even when they are likely non-credible. I appreciate the EPPD for their close relationship with us to keep students safe.”

An EPPD spokesperson said, “After receiving the report about a possible threat to CMS, we conducted a thorough investigation and did not find any evidence to indicate a credible threat. No arrests were made.”
