Pre-K Creative Play by the Art Center – Saturdays

Spring 2023, Staring Lake BLDG Lake View Room
Socialize and learn new skills with fun art projects exploring different ways to be creative together. Classes explore outdoors as weather permits, so dress for a mess and the weather. If weather prevents us from being outside, we play in the spacious Staring Building Lake View Room. Register child(ren) only. Adults must be present and active with their child(ren) during the entire session. Glass classes must have one adult per one child due to properties of the medium. Sign up for all four sessions and save $10 using code #326230.

April 8, Make a Kite
Add some fun to your days outside with your very own kite made from simple materials. Participants learn how to construct a basic kite and how the wind can send it soaring through the air.

April 22, Thumbprint Heart Charms
Make a loving personalized gift that truly is handmade. Young artists and their adults choose from a selection of colored polymer clay, learn how to work the clay into shapes, use their thumbs to create an imprinted heart and then turn it into a necklace or keychain. This is a great workshop to take in preparation for Mother’s, Father’s, Parent’s, or Grandparent’s Day.

May 6, Celebrate Dad, Make a Gift
Celebrate Father’’ Day with a unique gift! Participants work with their adult to paint underglaze in lots of fun colors on a pre-made tile and small dish. Make it a surprise or attend with dad to have a special experience together. Each participant is provided with one flat tile and shallow dish which will be fired with a clear, food-safe glaze on top of their underglaze colored masterpiece. Completed projects may be picked up during open studio hours on or after Saturday, June 3 just in time to be wrapped for dad’s special day.

May 13, Clay- Fun Fridge Magnets
Clay is a wonderful sensory material to work with and is so versatile. Young artists learn to work raw clay into different shapes and then partner with their adult to add color with fun underglazes. Art Center staff clear glazes all work and will attach a magnet to the back. Completed projects available 2 – 3 weeks after class.

If the cost of the program is prohibiting you from registering, please contact the Art Center supervisor, Jes Schrom, at jschrom@edenprairie.org to discuss fee options.
