‘All Shook Up’ at Staring Lake

Juliana AllenBy Juliana AllenJuly 12, 20222 Mins Read
Echoes of Elvis performing at Staring Lake Amphitheatre on July 10.

A young Elvis Presley played his first two Twin Cities shows on May 13, 1956. The small but extremely appreciative audiences reportedly screamed so loud that nobody could hear Elvis perform.

Although “The King” is longer with us, he was here in spirit as tribute act Echoes of Elvis rocked the crowd at Staring Lake Amphitheatre on Sunday evening, July 10.

St. Paul-based Elvis impersonator Eddie Hughes and his energetic backing band Rich & The Resistors entertained the audience with a wide selection of Elvis’ hits.

Hughes belted out songs from “Suspicious Minds” and “Hound Dog” to “Love Me Tender” and “All Shook Up” during the group’s one-and-a-half-hour set.

The crowd of approximately 400 people (and several hound dogs of the four-legged variety) got to “shake, rattle, and roll” as they clapped and sang along in the warm summer evening. Hughes engaged the enthusiastic audience with many signature Elvis moves and made several forays into the stands.

The event was part of “Starring at Staring,” one of Eden Prairie’s series of free summer concerts and cultural events.

Eden Prairie has many more arts and entertainment events planned for the rest of the summer.

Next weekend’s “Starring at Staring” events are:
    July 14 – Dirty Shorts Brass Band (7 p.m.)
July 15 – Miss Myra and the Moonshiners (7 p.m.)
    July 16 – Special Saturday Concert 204th Army Band (6 p.m.)
    July 17 – Lehto and Wright (6 p.m.)
