An Oak Park, Minnesota, man is facing three felony charges and a misdemeanor count after a criminal complaint alleged he threatened his girlfriend with scissors, restrained her against her will and fled officers in Eden Prairie.
Aaron Enyinda George Ejike, 18, was charged in Hennepin County District Court with felony counts of threats of violence, false imprisonment and fleeing police in a motor vehicle, along with a misdemeanor charge of domestic assault.
Court records list Ejike’s address as Oak Park, an unincorporated rural community in Morrison County about 90 miles northwest of the Twin Cities. According to the complaint, the victim told police she and Ejike had been living together.
Police responded Aug. 28 to a residence in Eden Prairie on a report of a domestic assault with a weapon, the complaint said.
The document states Ejike grabbed his girlfriend by the neck during an argument, pinned her in a corner and threatened her with scissors before turning the weapon on himself and threatening suicide if she left. He also smashed her phone, according to the complaint.
The complaint says that when officers arrived, Ejike got into a car and drove off. Police briefly pursued him but ended the chase for safety reasons. He was later arrested in Minnetonka.
Court records show Ejike posted $50,000 bail and was released under supervision with conditions, including no contact with the victim. His next court hearing is scheduled for Oct. 23.
Court records do not yet show a plea.
