Braiding with Three: Kouba Gallery Exhibition | Bloomington
“As we learn in Braiding Sweetgrass, braiding is a process of bundling three strands—mind, body, and spirit—so they are stronger when woven together.” Braiding with Three brings together the richly textured works of Linda Jensen (ceramics), Linda Snouffer (botanical printmaking), and Olivia Hoppe (sculpture with natural & reclaimed materials). Inspired by the ecological wisdom of Braiding Sweetgrass, this collaborative exhibit invites viewers into a living conversation between art, land, and story. Rather than presenting their works in separate sections, these artists interweave their creations throughout the gallery, echoing the ecological and cultural act of braiding. Clay vessels textured like birch bark rest beside delicate plant-printed landscapes and sculptural assemblages built from bone, bark, poutry feathers, and gourds. Together, they explore the strength found in layering — of texture, memory, and material — and the beauty that emerges when we slow down and see what’s often overlooked.
This is more than an art show — it’s an offering. We invite you to join us for the opening reception to meet the artists, explore the braid, and experience the harmony of three voices woven together through nature. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
