Anatoliy Zelikman, a longtime Eden Prairie resident, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 7, after many years of worsening Parkinson’s disease. He was 88.

Anatoliy was born on Oct. 14, 1936, in Babruysk, Belarus. He escaped a genocidal attack on the city during World War II by evacuating to Central Asia.
He practiced medicine from 1960 to 1995 at several organizations and held many positions, including but not limited to that of chief physician at the Sanitary Epidemiological Center in Khasansky District, Primorsky Krai and public health specialist at the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic Center for Hygiene and Disinfection.
He immigrated to Minnesota with his family in 1995. He was a grandfather, father, husband, brother and friend to many.
He enjoyed chess, reading, philately (stamp collecting), writing poems, Jewish studies, and helping raise his grandchildren. A comprehensive account of Anatoliy’s positive qualities, interests, hobbies, skills, talents, and complicated life exceeds any obituary’s scope.
