A Burnsville man wanted on felony warrants from Illinois and Washington County was charged in Hennepin County after police say they found a handgun and ammunition in his vehicle outside a hotel in Eden Prairie early Wednesday.
According to a criminal complaint, Eden Prairie officers approached the vehicle about 1:25 a.m. Aug. 6 in the 11900 block of Technology Drive. A records check showed the registered owner, Emilio Daniel Campos Arce, 40, had an Illinois warrant listed as “armed and dangerous” and a Washington County warrant for felony drunken driving and driving after cancellation.
Police said Campos Arce initially gave a false name before he was arrested. A search of the vehicle turned up a 10-millimeter Fusion Firearms handgun under the driver’s seat, a magazine with five rounds, another 41 rounds in a case, about $1,300 in cash and suspected marijuana.
Campos Arce is charged with two gross misdemeanor weapons counts and one misdemeanor count of giving a peace officer a false name. As someone facing a felony charge, he is prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition, the complaint said.
He remained in the Hennepin County jail Saturday on $6,000 bail, with a first court appearance set for Monday at the Ridgedale courthouse in Minnetonka.
