Eden Prairie residents and workers have until Monday, Aug. 11, to apply for the Police Department’s 2025 Citizens Academy, a free, six-week course offering a behind-the-scenes look at local law enforcement.
The academy runs Tuesday evenings from Sept. 16 through Oct. 21, 5:30 to 9 p.m., and covers topics such as traffic enforcement, DWI enforcement, use of force, 911 communications, SWAT operations and investigations. Each session includes a light meal followed by instruction.
Applicants must be at least 21, live or work in Eden Prairie, commit to attending all six sessions, and pass a basic background check. Space is limited; participants are chosen by lottery.
The program is funded by the Eden Prairie Crime Prevention Fund.
The 2025 Citizens Academy application can be downloaded from the city’s website, then dropped off at the Police Department (8080 Mitchell Road) or emailed to Jenna Zwak at jzwak@edenprairie.org. For more information, call 952-949-6200.
