A 32-year-old St. Paul man faces felony charges after allegedly pointing a loaded handgun at his girlfriend and threatening to shoot her during a domestic dispute in Eden Prairie.
Pah Htee Buay was charged June 12 in Hennepin County District Court with two felonies: second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and threats of violence with reckless disregard of risk. The charges stem from a June 11 incident at the woman’s home in Eden Prairie.
According to the criminal complaint, the woman told police that during an argument, Buay loaded a magazine into a handgun, pointed it at her, and said he was going to shoot her and then himself.
Eden Prairie police arrested Buay later that day. During a search incident to arrest, officers reported finding a loaded 9 mm handgun in Buay’s backpack.
Buay was booked into the Hennepin County Jail in the early hours of June 11 and released June 15 after posting a $10,000 conditional bond. As part of his release conditions, a judge ordered him to have no contact with the victim, stay away from her home, undergo a mental health evaluation and follow any treatment recommendations, and refrain from possessing firearms or other dangerous weapons.
He made his first court appearance June 13. An omnibus hearing is scheduled for July 10 at the Hennepin County Public Safety Facility in downtown Minneapolis.
