Eden Prairie Schools has announced that Heidi Miller will become the next principal of Prairie View Elementary School, effective July 1. She will replace Quennel Cooper, who is leaving to become assistant superintendent of St. Louis Park Public Schools.

Miller has served as principal of Hassan Elementary School in Elk River since 2022. Before that, she spent three years as assistant principal at Rum River Elementary in Anoka-Hennepin Schools.
During her 11-year tenure with Anoka-Hennepin, she also served as an administrative intern, literacy specialist and K-2 teacher leader. She holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Northwestern College, as well as a master’s degree in literacy education and a doctorate in educational administration from Bethel University.
In a message to families, Josh Swanson, Eden Prairie Schools’ superintendent, and Felicia Thames, EP Schools’ assistant superintendent of elementary education, said, “During our seven-part interview process, we were truly impressed by how Dr. Miller easily connected with Prairie View staff, students and families. Her wealth of experience, genuine warmth and enthusiasm shined through in every conversation, and we believe she will be a wonderful addition to Eden Prairie Schools. She’s eager to build on the excellent work already happening at Prairie View Elementary.”
Miller also shared a message with families, saying, “I am honored and thrilled to be joining Prairie View Elementary as your new principal. From the moment I connected with the Eden Prairie community, and especially during my visit to Prairie View, I could feel the strong sense of care, collaboration, and pride in our school. It is clear that this is a place where students are known, families are valued, and staff are deeply committed to excellence.”
She said she has a deep passion for literacy and would prioritize helping each student become a strong reader. She also values encouraging student innovation, creativity and personalized growth to ensure that “every learner is supported and inspired to reach their full potential.”
