Do you know someone who has made an important impact on the Eden Prairie community and beyond? Nominate them by May 30 for the Eden Prairie Schools Hall of Fame, launching this fall.
Joe Perkl, activities director at Eden Prairie High School, spoke about the new Hall of Fame at an alumni and partner breakfast held last month at the Eden Prairie Schools’ Valley View campus. Reflecting on the accomplishments of students, staff, alumni and community members over the past 100 years of Eden Prairie Schools, Perkl said, “That’s a lot of history of excellence.”
When considering whom to nominate, the district encourages people to look beyond school athletics and activities and consider broader accomplishments by alumni, former staff and community contributors.
Perkl encouraged people to think of “our ‘who’s who,’ our Mount Rushmore of Eden Prairie Schools. Who’s that theater student at Eden Prairie High School who’s now been on Broadway for 15 years? We’ve had a hockey player hoist the Stanley Cup. We’ve had administrators here for 45 years making transformational changes. Let’s recognize them. Let’s celebrate them.”
Inductees must have devoted significant time and effort to supporting Eden Prairie Schools. Eligibility criteria include:
- Accomplishments: Inductees must have accolades or a record of longevity that warrant consideration, both for their time at Eden Prairie Schools and for achievements beyond it.
- Character: Inductees must have demonstrated high moral character in their activities and personal conduct. They should continue to serve as positive representatives of Eden Prairie Schools.
The nomination deadline for this year is May 30, but nominations are accepted year-round for future consideration. People are welcome to submit as many nominations as they like using the district’s submission form.
Inductees will be announced this fall at a new event hosted in partnership with the Foundation for Eden Prairie Schools: the Eagle Excellence Showcase. The event, scheduled for Oct. 4, will honor FEPS Legacy Award winners and other notable achievements from across the district. More information will be available closer to the event date, according to the district.
