A Shakopee man has been charged with felony fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct in connection with the alleged assault of a 15-year-old girl in Eden Prairie in 2023, according to a criminal complaint filed in Hennepin County District Court.
Luigi Gianni Pimentel, 20, is accused of engaging in nonconsensual sexual penetration of the girl on April 3, 2023. The complaint states that Pimentel knew the girl was 15.
According to the complaint, the girl reported the assault to school staff the following day, prompting an investigation by Eden Prairie police. She later underwent a sexual assault examination at a hospital and participated in a forensic interview at CornerHouse, a child advocacy center.
In the interview, the girl told investigators that Pimentel picked her up from school and drove to a nearby baseball field. She said the assault occurred in the back seat of his vehicle after she told him to stop.
Pimentel was charged April 23 and made his first court appearance on May 12. He was released with conditions, including no contact with the alleged victim, a requirement to remain law-abiding and a prohibition on possessing firearms or ammunition.
An omnibus hearing is scheduled for July 1 in the Hennepin County Government Center in Minneapolis.
If convicted, Pimentel faces up to two years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
According to the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office, the case was not submitted for charging consideration until February 2025.
