Attends National Association of Social Workers Advocacy Day

Emily Van Dixhorn was one of 12 social work students at Carthage College, Kenosha, Wisconsin, who attended the National Association of Social Workers (NASW-WI) Advocacy Day on April 9 in Madison, Wisconsin, with Professor Rebecca Hornung, social work department chair.

Attendees participated in workshops on advocacy skills, gun violence prevention, and public service student loan forgiveness programs, among other topics. Attendees had opportunities to meet with elected officials to discuss the importance of policies that impact social workers and the communities they serve.
