A townhome on Edenvale Boulevard near Hallmark Drive caught fire Tuesday afternoon, engulfing the residence and damaging an adjacent unit across from Edgewood Park, in a neighborhood just off Cedar Point Road.

According to the City of Eden Prairie, the Eden Prairie Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 6927 Edenvale Blvd. at 1:49 p.m. Tuesday, May 6. Firefighters arrived to find the townhome fully engulfed in flames and extinguished the fire.
No one was home at the time. The family’s dog, Coby, did not survive the fire. A family member later clarified that there was no cat in the home, contrary to earlier reporting.
The fire badly damaged the home and may have made nearby units unlivable. The cause is still under investigation.

Editor’s note: This story has been updated to correct the location of the fire. While the townhome is in a neighborhood off Cedar Point Road, the property’s official address is on Edenvale Boulevard.
