Theresa Marty, a seasoned educator who has spent the past 10 years with St. Paul Public Schools, has been hired as the new principal of Oak Point Elementary, effective July 1.
In a message to families, Josh Swanson, superintendent, and Felicia Thames, assistant superintendent of elementary education, said, “We are excited about the strong support she will bring for each member of our school community and the vision she described of working with everyone to make sure great things continue to happen at Oak Point.”
Since October, the school has shared principals as well as a building with Eagle Heights Spanish Immersion (ESHI). Hernan Moncada, EHSI’s principal, and Oscar Andrade Lara, ESHI’s associate principal, helped lead Oak Point during the extended absence and subsequent resignation of Chris Rogers, the school’s previous principal.

Over the last 10 years, Marty has been with St. Paul Public Schools, most recently serving as principal of Lincoln Center Elementary School since 2021. Previously, she was the school’s assistant principal and the district’s assistant director of special services and learning. Before this, she held varied roles, including classroom teacher, district science curriculum chair, and targeted services coordinator in District 622 (North St. Paul, Maplewood, Oakdale).
Marty holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from St. Catherine University, a master’s degree in educational leadership from Concordia University, and an administrative license from Hamline University. She serves as an adjunct program chair and professor for education graduate studies at Concordia University.
“Mrs. Marty brings a wealth of experience in education and, as we shared, a deep commitment to supporting students and staff,” said Swanson and Thames. “Her collaborative spirit and thoughtful approach reflect her passion for creating a school environment where every student feels valued, supported, and challenged. She is eager to work alongside our staff, students, and families to continue fulfilling our district’s mission of inspiring each student every day.”
