    EPLN OBITUARIES

David G. Olson, 88, of Eden Prairie, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on March 6, 2025.

He is survived by the love of his life, Annette; his daughters, Julie Olson and Jennie (John) Priebe; his granddaughter, Anna Priebe; his sister, Alice Stone; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Olson; his parents, Gilbert and Ethel Olson; his stepmother, Ella Olson; and his sister, Louise Collins.

David was born in Braham, Minnesota, on Jan. 25, 1937. He met his wife of 64 years, Annette, at Gustavus Adolphus College, and they were married on Aug. 13, 1960. They had three children and shared a life filled with love and laughter.

David dedicated 25 years to teaching music, primarily in the St. Louis Park School District, touching the lives of countless students with his patience and encouragement.  Following his teaching career, David transitioned into computer sales and IT customer service, where his warmth and genuine interest in people made him a beloved figure among colleagues and clients.

His commitment to music extended well beyond the classroom. David served as a choir director for 50 years, and he led the bell choirs for 15 years. Much of his directorial career was spent at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Eden Prairie, where his musical guidance was an integral part of the congregation’s worship community.

David’s life was rich with interests that kept him connected to his loved ones and community. He cherished time with family and friends, cheered on his beloved Vikings, and enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles. In his younger years, he loved being outdoors, gardening, biking, and going for walks.

David was a man who led by example and showed what it means to live a life full of love, laughter, and service to others. He had the rare ability to lift spirits with just a smile or a well-timed joke, and his absence will be deeply felt by many.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 13600 Technology Drive, Eden Prairie, with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Olson family or St. Andrew Lutheran Church.
