EPHS math team moves on to state competition

EPLN Staff ReportsBy EPLN Staff ReportsFebruary 19, 20251 Min Read

The Eden Prairie High School math team secured a spot in the state competition by winning the final regular-season event at Burnsville High School on Feb. 10. Eden Prairie won its division with a combined score of 523 points. Following the event, EPHS is tied with Spring Lake Park High School for eighth place in the state rankings.

Individual scorers from Eden Prairie who ranked among the top 10 in Eden Prairie’s division in the Feb. 10 event were junior Jingyi Ling, who finished first; junior Jessica Cao, who placed second; and sophomore Sankalp Agrawal, who had an eighth-place finish. Ling’s finish placed her 25th statewide, while Cao’s placed her 28th statewide.

Ling and Cao, members of the team since their freshman year, will compete in the invitational round at the state tournament on March 10 for a chance to win the Math Bowl. The state tournament is also a factor in selecting members of the Minnesota All-State math team.

This year’s EPHS Math Team captains include Cao, Ling, and senior captain Melody Li.
