Lisa Toomey and PG Narayanan were sworn in for new, four-year terms on the Eden Prairie City Council on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

The oath of office was administered by City Attorney Maggie Neuville at the regular council meeting in the Eden Prairie City Center.

Narayanan and Toomey were reelected in November, meaning the council remains unchanged from the previous four years and will continue that way through at least 2025 and 2026, when seats held by incumbent Mayor Ron Case and incumbent council members Mark Freiberg and Kathy Nelson will be up for election.

“Thank you, Eden Prairie residents, for putting your faith and trust in us,” Mayor Ron Case said.

Toomey and Narayanan, accompanied by family, were asked their thoughts about embarking on new terms of office.

“I feel privileged to swear in for the third time,” said Narayanan. “And I am also excited and humbled to serve for the next four years and continue making Eden Prairie a great place to live.”

Said Toomey: “I am honored and excited to continue serving on the City Council. Eden Prairie is an exceptional community, and I look forward to listening, learning and working hard for our residents.”

Toomey received 21,659 votes in the general election, while Narayanan received 16,936, far outpacing the two other candidates.

Narayanan, who immigrated from India to the United States at age 18, has served on the City Council for six years, while Toomey has served for four.
