Planet Fitness is opening its first Eden Prairie location, with a grand opening for the fitness center at 11609 Leona Road set for Saturday, Dec. 14.
The building formerly housed an Office Depot retail store. In September, the city council approved the plans to redevelop a portion of the site into Planet Fitness, as well as to add a Starbucks coffee shop to the parking lot.
The 19,000-square-foot Planet Fitness club will include 62 pieces of cardio equipment, 93 pieces of strength equipment, two massage chairs, a HydroMassage lounger, three HydroMassage beds, three tanning rooms, and one red light therapy room. It will also include a stretching and mobility area, flat-screen televisions, and locker rooms with day lockers and showers.
Saturday’s grand opening is scheduled for 10 a.m. and will include Planet Fitness district managers and staff welcoming new members and offering tours of the facility, as well as a ribbon-cutting and prize giveaways. Blake Hains is the manager of the Eden Prairie location.
