PROP launches $50K matching gifts campaign

EPLN Staff ReportsBy EPLN Staff ReportsDecember 4, 20242 Mins Read

PROP Food announced this week that a local couple and Scheels have teamed up to provide a $50,000 match for PROP’s “Keeping Families in Their Homes for the Holidays and Beyond” campaign.

According to a press release, this is the couple’s seventh consecutive year of providing a matching gift of $25,000 and the second year that Scheels has matched their gift.

The couple expressed gratitude for the grace they have received and shared their commitment to “do justly, love mercy and walk humbly” (Micah 6:8) alongside their neighbors.

“Recognizing the challenges of homelessness, our hope and prayers are to keep families stable and secure in their homes rather than at risk on the streets,” the couple stated. “We invite people in the Eden Prairie and Chanhassen communities to generously and compassionately support PROP’s housing services to keep families stably housed and safe.”

“PROP continues to be a leader in our community by showing up for those in need,” Scheels stated in the press release. “Scheels Eden Prairie is incredibly proud to support PROP and their mission to serve our community not only during the holiday season, but throughout the entire year.”

Jenifer Loon, PROP executive director, expressed gratitude for these extraordinary gifts.

“Having such faithful and generous donors who demonstrate their deep caring for their community members touches us at our core,” Loon said. “It has become more costly to meet the increased needs of our clients at PROP, and receiving such donations at this critical time of year gives us hope that we will be able to continue to combat food and housing insecurity here in Eden Prairie and Chanhassen.”

Funding from the campaign provides nutritious food and short-term rent or mortgage assistance to qualifying families to prevent eviction and offers wrap-around support with mental health, nutrition, and employment counseling. Last year, PROP served more than 5,000 individuals and helped 79 households remain stably housed.

Donations to the “Keeping Families in Their Homes” campaign can be made online or mailed to PROP Food Shelf, 14700 Martin Drive, Eden Prairie, MN 55344.

The first $50,000 of gifts received by Dec. 31 will be matched.

PROP Food is a registered 501(c)(3) organization that provides nourishment to people in the community and comprehensive support to Eden Prairie and Chanhassen residents facing financial, housing, or employment insecurity.
