Highway 101 fully open in EP and Chanhassen

EPLN Staff ReportsBy EPLN Staff ReportsNovember 25, 2024Updated:November 25, 20241 Min Read

Highway 101 between County Road 62/Townline Road in Eden Prairie and Highway 5 in Chanhassen has fully reopened. The road has been closed to non-local traffic since June.

During this timeframe, Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) crews resurfaced two miles of the road; reconstructed the trail on the west side of the road; installed overhead pedestrian signals at Twilight Trail and Valley View Road; repaired Purgatory Creek drainage issues; and built accessible pedestrian crossings and curb ramps.

The project entailed adding curb ramps compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act at Highway 101’s intersections with South Shore Drive, Twilight Trail, Kurvers Point Road, Cheyenne Trail, Sandy Hook Road, Choctaw Circle, Fox Hollow Drive, and Pleasantview Road. Traffic signals with raised arrows and speakers, intended to provide information about the intersection to pedestrians with hearing and visual impairment, were installed at Highway 101’s intersections with Highway 5 and West 78th Street.

In spring 2025, crews will return to complete pavement markings and finish remaining work on the adjacent trail. Find more information on MnDOT’s Highway 101 project page.
