Letter rebuts recent critique, endorses Russo for House seat

Letter to EditorBy Letter to EditorOctober 31, 20242 Mins Read

This is in response to Lori Johnson’s recent letter endorsing 49B House candidate Carlie Kotyza-Witthuhn and denigrating her opposition, Wendi Russo, for being a coach and businesswoman. She claimed Wendi is trying to “pass herself off as a moderate, if not outright trying to fool Democrats into voting for her.” Are the Democrats Lori knows so easily fooled? Don’t they do their research prior to voting?

Lori criticized Wendi’s abortion stance, attacked her character and made unfounded accusations about her integrity. As a woman, I’m confounded by this obsession with abortion and the singlemindedness of these one-issue voters. Fear-mongering over the abortion issue has got to stop. Those who believe this “right” will be taken from women in Minnesota are ignorant. Please do your research. I’ll refer you to our state constitution. Abortion is a side show Democrats use to distract from the real issues facing Minnesota.

Carlie is out of touch with the real issues in Eden Prairie and Minnesota. She’s had six years to represent us but instead spent our $18 billion surplus, raised taxes 11%, and voted against an investigation into the $250 million “Feeding Our Future” scandal. She has voted in favor of illegal immigrants over citizens, giving them free tuition, the right to vote, and tax-payer subsidized healthcare. She authored the PRO Act, allowing full term abortions, which don’t have to be reported, so Lori’s claim that they’re “virtually non-existent” is incorrect. They’re just not reported, and they are in fact happening, right here in MN.

Wendi Russo believes in balanced government, accountability and finding a more centrist view for Eden Prairie while dealing with fraud prevention in our budgets, helping seniors and bringing back the excellence of which Eden Prairie Schools were once known. She is a moderate, experienced leader who supports our community and doesn’t deserve the terrible things Lori Johnson said about her! She’s got my vote!
