A call to reelect Kotyza-Witthuhn for her community focus

Letter to EditorBy Letter to EditorOctober 29, 20242 Mins Read

I am writing to support the reelection of Carlie Kotyza-Witthuhn to the state Legislature. She has earned my vote. I have known Carlie for several years, and I have seen her drive to help others. Carlie volunteers in our schools, uses her platform to elevate local causes, and amplifies calls to help children and families in Eden Prairie. She spends time doing small things for our community, like biking around town to fill free little libraries. The list goes on. We need more people in elected office whose mission is to help people and not their own personal advancement. We need Carlie.

Carlie shares the values of our community and the needs of families. As a helper, Carlie’s motivation is a helpful outcome for our community. She is not focused on a party line. She’s focused on all of us. If a law impacts your family, I encourage you to reach out to Carlie and openly communicate your experience and ask for help. Carlie listens and seeks to find common ground that helps everyone.

Carlie is the vice-chair of the Commerce, Finance and Policy Committee, and serves on the Economic Development Finance and Policy Committee, the Human Services Finance Committee, and the Children and Families Finance and Policy Committee.

She understands the needs of businesses and the impact of taxes. I have seen this firsthand. I represent employers, and the state Legislature recently passed several laws impacting employers. For the first time I can remember, I had an open mind at the Legislature who would listen to the practical implementation experience of businesses and seek to understand how to make improvements. There are no talking points or buzzwords in a conversation with Carlie. She engages in real discussions about how to benefit businesses and employees.

If you have an experience you would like her to consider as she votes, please reach out to her. We are lucky that we have a representative in Carlie who listens and incorporates what she learns from us into her positions.

Please join me in voting to reelect Carlie Kotyza-Witthuhn to the Minnesota House.

    Jody Ward-Rannow, Eden Prairie
